Acer Holds Leading Position in Multiple Markets during Holiday Season 2014
TAIPEI, TAIWAN - Acer has achieved excellent sell-through results during the latter months of 2014, according to the latest data by GfK Retail and Technology on PC shipments which represents actual sell through figures. The fourth quarter includes the holiday season where the company held numerous holiday promotional activities around the world and delivered outstanding results.
For the three consecutive months of September to November 2014, in both the Consumer PC and Consumer Notebook markets Acer held firmly to its No. 1 positions in multiple markets including Austria, Germany, Denmark, Netherlands, Sweden, Philippines, and Thailand.
For the holiday season during Q4 2014, Acer held numerous promotional activities around its worldwide markets and achieved exceptional results:
UK – During the peak Christmas period where traditionally 50% of the Q4 market is sold in the month of December, Acer adopted a cross-channel strategy and managed to secure a record number of key listings with the Aspire notebooks. During one single week Acer sold an all-time high, generating an amazing weekly market share of 44%1, and representing about one third of a typical quarter’s business. Acer also delivered similar success within the desktop category.
China - During the “1111”2 holiday shopping season in November, Acer doubled the numbers of notebooks sold and saw a 56% increase in the number of desktop PCs sold, compared to 2013. Acer’s campaign during this season covered all product lines to meet the needs of all types of users.
Mexico – Acer achieved record sales at the annual “El Buen Fin”3 (The Good Weekend) retail event held in November with excellent deals. Acer offered various products including tablets and the Aspire Switch 2-in-1 notebooks. The results set a new record for Acer at this event, selling a remarkable 136,000 units, of which more than half were tablet PCs.
USA – Acer sold around 100,000 tablets all in one day on Black Friday4 through HSN, the online and TV home shopping network.
With the strong momentum created by the successful sell-through and effective inventory control last quarter, Acer looks forward to a good start to 2015.
