Acer ITS’ Smart Parking Meter Solution Takes Home the ‘Global ICT Excellence Award - Private Sector Excellence’ at the World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT) 2018
HYDERABAD, INDIA - Acer ITS Inc., a subsidiary of Acer, one of the world's leading ICT companies, has won the ‘Global ICT Excellence Award - Private Sector Excellence’ at the World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT) 2018 for its smart parking meter solution. The award was announced and presented during the 22nd edition of WCIT held in India on February 19, hosted by the World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA), India’s IT BPM industry association NASSCOM, and the Government of Telangana.
The award highlights Acer ITS’ capabilities in bringing an innovative end-to-end parking solution that offers a seamless parking experience to drivers while assisting public and private operators to increase parking management efficiency and revenue by leveraging technology.
“Acer ITS’ smart parking meter solution lays a solid foundation for smart cities by vastly increasing parking management efficiency through integrated hardware and software services,” said Ben Wan, Chairman of Acer ITS Inc. “We’re excited that our efforts have been recognized, demonstrated by the winning of this award from WITSA, as we continue to help governments and clients around the world build smarter cities that improve the quality of urban life.”
Increasing Parking Management Efficiency
The smart parking meter is a key innovation of Acer ITS’ smart parking solution developed specifically for the roadside parking segment. The solution is a combination of a full-fledged parking app, meters, and a management system that provides unparalleled experience for users and real business benefit to parking lot operators.
Through the Acer ITS Parking App, drivers can view on their mobile phones real-time availability and rates collected by Acer ITS’ smart parking meters. In addition, the app can help drivers navigate to the desired parking space via the best route, not only saving time for drivers, but also reducing traffic congestion and carbon emissions for the city. Before leaving, drivers can pay for the parking fee by either touching the display embedded on the smart parking meter and selecting a preferred payment method, or through the Acer ITS Parking App.
With an array of sensors and image recognition technology, Acer ITS’ Smart Parking Meter can automatically detect when a car enters or exits a parking space, and precisely calculate the parking fee accordingly. This in turn provides more efficient parking space and rate management results for roadside parking operators, as parking tickets issued by manpower and then collected through various service channels are costly and run the risk of human error.
