Acer Named as CES 2018 Innovation Honoree for Four State-of-the-Art Products

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Acer today announced that it has been named a CES 2018 Innovation Awards Honoree for the Switch 7 Black Edition notebook, Predator Orion 9000 desktop, Predator X27 monitor and a fourth notebook to be announced in January of 2018. Products entered in this prestigious program are judged by a preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, independent engineers and members of the trade media to honor outstanding design and engineering in cutting edge consumer electronics products across 28 product categories.

The prestigious CES Innovation Awards are sponsored by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA)™, the owner and producer of CES 2018, the global gathering place for all who thrive on the business of consumer technologies, and have been recognizing achievements in product design and engineering since 1976.

Entries are evaluated on their engineering, aesthetic and design qualities, intended use/function and user value, unique/novel features present and how the design and innovation of the product directly compares to other products in the marketplace.

The innovative Switch 7 Black Edition is the world's first fanless 2-in-1 notebook equipped with discrete graphics(1), made possible by Acer's innovative Dual LiquidLoop™ fanless cooling technology. With a powerful 8th Generation Intel Core i7 processor and NVIDIA® GeForce® MX150 graphics, it is an ideal companion for intensive tasks, creative production and content streaming. Designed for the mobility minded, the new Switch 7 Black Edition is incredibly versatile, weighing less than 1.15 kg (2.5 lbs.) with the keyboard detached. The Switch 7 Black Edition's slender and lightweight design features a sturdy brushed-aluminum body that offers a robust feel and beautiful tactile touch. The Switch 7 Black Edition is also Acer's first to feature Acer AutoStand™, a patented kickstand that can be auto-deployed and auto-retracted, providing single-handed operation as simple as opening and adjusting the display on a clamshell notebook.

The Predator Orion 9000 line of gaming desktop PCs powers virtual reality apps with ease and supports over 8K UHD. It features up to an Intel® Core™ i9 Extreme Edition processor with 18 cores and 36 threads, AMD Radeon™ RX Vega graphics or two NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1080Ti graphics in SLI. Designed to intimidate enemies and inspire game play, the commanding aesthetics of the Predator Orion 9000 series feature a black-and-silver spacecraft-like exterior with customizable RGB lighting along the sides of the front bezel. A massive side window panel showcases the striking and powerful interior with a design that keeps electromagnetic interference (EMI) levels in check despite the size of the opening. Optional fans with customizable RGB lighting create a virtual light show for an even more arresting appearance. Outfitted with two handles and wheels covered with a carbon fiber pattern, the desktop can be easily moved from one location to another. Tool-less side panels make component upgrades easy and the push-open top gives users a quick way to switch fans. A front-access headset cradle and cable management help keep the game area tidy.

The Predator X27 gaming monitor infuses the gaming experience with stunning visual clarity, vibrant colors, and remarkably smooth performance. It takes gaming to a new level with NVIDIA G-SYNC HDR at 4K resolution with a lightning-fast 144 Hz refresh rate. It leverages Quantum Dot technology, offering a wider color range with higher brightness, deeper saturation and better accuracy to offer dramatically more vivid visuals, supporting 99% of the Adobe RGB color space. It also features a fast 4 ms response time and a 1,000 nit peak brightness. Featuring Acer HDR Ultra technology, it offers the best possible contrast quality of the high dynamic range with advanced LED local dimming in 384 individually-controlled zones that shine light only when and where it is required. It not only delivers a broader, more deeply saturated color gamut, but a luminance range several times greater than that of traditional dynamic range monitors. By dimming the backlight behind parts of the screen displaying black, blacks appear deeper and darker on those parts of the panel, a significant bonus for people who play games with darker scenes. The chiseled diamond cut, all-metal stand is very robust to provide stability and ergonomic with adjustable tilt, swivel and height.

Products chosen as CES Innovation Honorees reflect innovative design and engineering in some of the most cutting edge tech products and services coming to market.
