SAN JOSE, Calif - Acer today announced that it has earned three CES 2017 Innovation awards for its monitors and notebooks, including the top prize in the computer peripherals category with a “Best of Innovation” award for its Predator Z301CT gaming monitor. It was also named an “Honoree” twice in the computer hardware and components category for its Swift 7, the world’s thinnest notebook(1), as well as the Spin 7, the world’s thinnest convertible notebook(2).
Products entered in this prestigious program are judged by a preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, independent engineers and members of the trade media to honor outstanding design and engineering in cutting edge consumer electronics across 28 product categories.
The Best of Innovation award for the Predator Z301CT monitor means that the judges deemed it to be the most impressive technology in the computer peripherals category and that it scored higher than all other entries. The Predator Z301CT is the world’s first 21:9 curved monitor with eye-tracking functionality(3). The monitor’s eye-tracking technology adds to a gamer’s arsenal of control tools, helping them to intuitively aim, target and shoot faster than competitors who only have access to a keyboard and mouse.
Other key features include a 30-inch 1800R curved ultra-wide full HD 2560x1080 screen, stutter-free visuals with NVIDIA G-Sync technology, a rapid 200Hz refresh rate, fast 4ms response time and 178-degree viewing angles.
The Acer Swift 7, the world’s thinnest notebook, was selected as a CES 2017 Innovation Honoree in the computer hardware and components category. It measures less than 1cm thin (0.39 inches) and weighs 2.48 pounds, providing incredible portability and up to 9 hours of battery life(4). It offers an elegant, all-aluminum uni-body design with Corning Gorilla Glass for superior durability and scratch resistance. Its gold inner surface contrasts with a matte black exterior, while an extra wide Precision Touchpad with chamfered diamond-cut effects provides modern, luxurious aesthetics.
The Acer Spin 7, the world’s thinnest convertible notebook, was also selected as a CES 2017 Innovation Honoree in the computer hardware and components category. Its 13-inch all-aluminum uni-body houses a 14-inch Full HD IPS Corning Gorilla Glass touchscreen display with a narrow bezel. The convertible notebook offers up to 8 hours of battery(4) life, is just 0.43 inches thin and weighs only 2.6 pounds, making it easy to carry for business or pleasure. A 360-degree hinge with four different usage modes provides extreme portability, flexibility and usability for a variety of applications.
The prestigious CES Innovation Awards are sponsored by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA)TM, the producer of CES 2017, the global gathering place for all who thrive on the business of consumer technologies, and have been recognizing achievements in product design and engineering since 1976.
Entries are evaluated on their engineering, aesthetic and design qualities, intended use/function and user value, unique/novel features present and how the design and innovation of the product directly compares to other products in the marketplace.
Products chosen as CES Best of Innovation Honorees reflect innovative design and engineering in some of the most cutting edge tech products and services coming to market.
CES 2017 Innovation Honoree products are featured on CES.tech/Innovation, which lists product categories, as well as each product name, manufacturer information, description, photo and URL.
