Acer Strengthens its Pan American Management Team

Acer announces the appointment of Gregg Prendergast to co-head the Acer Pan America regional office with President Sumit Agnihotry, effective September 1st. Prendergast’s title will become Co-President of Acer Pan America.

Both veterans of Acer, the combined experience of Prendergast’s expertise in sales and marketing and Agnihotry’s extensive knowledge in product marketing, provides Acer with a strong team to lead the company forward in the Pan America region.

Prendergast, Vice President of Commercial Sales and Marketing at Acer America since 2009, has accumulated 35 years of experience in the IT industry in North America. He also spent six years with Acer America from 1997-2003 in a variety of executive positions including U.S. General Manager and Vice President of US Sales and Marketing.

Prior to rejoining Acer America in early 2009, Prendergast was Vice President of sales for three years at Belkin, responsible for the pan America retail and commercial sales channels for computing accessories. Prior to Belkin, Prendergast was the Vice President of US Sales at Samsung Electronics from 2003-2006. Prendergast started his career at Texas Instruments, where he spent 16 years selling impact and laser printers and notebook computers, in a variety of sales and sales management positions. He joined Acer when Acer America acquired the notebook computer business at Texas Instruments in 1997.

Prendergast holds a bachelor’s degree in Business from Temple University in Philadelphia.

Acer continues to gain momentum in the Panam market. In addition to its leading position in Chromebook with more than 38% market share in the U.S., Acer ranks #2 in Canada and Latin America for notebooks in market share.
