Acer to Extend its VR Offering by Supporting the Windows Holographic Platform in Q1 2017

Acer announces that it will offer VR Head-Mounted Displays (HMDs) capable of mixed reality through the Windows 10 Creators Update in 2017. Adding to the current portfolio comprising of the professional and location-based entertainment StarVR developed jointly with Starbreeze, Acer is now able to provide a comprehensive VR offering for all kinds of customers, ranging from top-of-the-line, cinema grade HMDs, extending to accessible headsets enabled by the Windows Holographic Platform, and VR-Ready PCs and platforms to power them all.

The new headsets are expected to ship in the first quarter, and prices will start at $299. The new HMD will work with affordable laptops and PCs and is designed to enable progressive computing experiences and accelerate the adoption of new and intuitive ways to interact with the world.

The lightweight HMDs include a built-in camera for mixed reality applications, and supports high resolutions of up to 1440x1440 for each eye, with built-in sensors capable of inside-out, six-degrees of freedom (DoF) positional tracking for simplified set-up and to allow users to move more freely around while using the device.

In the fourth quarter, Acer reported consolidated revenues of NT$66.02 billion, gross profits of NT$6.95 billion with 10.5% margin, operating income of NT$1.02 billion with 1.6% margin, and net income [1] of NT$1.43 billion with earning-per-share (EPS) of NT$0.47.

Acer Announces February Revenues at NT$17.07 Billion, a Record High for February Post Pandemic
TAIPEI (March 10, 2025) Acer Inc. (TWSE: 2353) announced its consolidated revenues for February at NT$17.07 billion, with growth of 13.3% month-on-month and 5.9% year-on-year (YoY). Consolidated revenues for year-to-February reached NT$32.15 billion with 2.6% growth YoY, where Chromebook revenues grew 11.9% YoY.
